The Pyramid
Throughout his childhood, Prince Khnum-Khufu (Khéops to the Greeks) watched as his father built wonders. Pharaoh Sneferu (Soris to the Greeks) was the first pyramid builder, the first to attempt to build a ramp straight up to heaven. Pyramids were used as tombs and The Bent Pyramid, the Red Pyramid and the Pyramid of Meidum grew from the ground like plants over the years although the final resting place of Sneferu still remains a mystery.
J.P, Lepre claims: “the Red pyramid remains one of the chief pyramids that may possibly contain secret chambers, not the least of which may be the true burial chamber of King Sneferu himself.” but for now the King's wear-about is still unknown.
However, THE RED PYRAMID IS NOT THE PYRAMID LISTED AS ONE OF THE SEVEN WONDERS. It was Sneferu's son by his main wife Hetepheres I who came to outshine even his father. Khufu's pyramid was built at 146.5 meters tall and remained the tallest man-made building on earth for for 3,800 years. The only one of the 7 Wonders left standing, the 'Great Pyramid of Giza' is so large that when Herodotus traveled to Egypt to see it, he could not believe that such a thing could be built without the help of slaves and he also accused Khufu of worse crimes:
"Kheops moreover came to such a pitch of evilness, that being in want of money he sent his own daughter to a brothel and ordered her to obtain from those who came a certain amount of money (how much it was they did not tell me). But she not only obtained the sum that was appointed by her father, but she also formed a design for herself privately to leave behind her a memorial: She requested each man who came in to her to give her one stone for her building project. And of these stones, they told me, the pyramid was built which stands in front of the great pyramid in the middle of the three, each side being 150 feet in length"
